■ Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum Special Exhibition "Camphor Tree / Masaharu Fukuyama x Junaida"
Nagasaki-born singer-songwriter Masaharu Fukuyama released a song titled "Kusunoki" (Campus Tree) in 2014, which was based on the theme of trees that were exposed to the atomic bomb. The song is based on the "Atomic Bombed Camphor Tree" that is said to be over 500 years old and stands at Sanno Shrine in Nagasaki City, about 800 meters from the hypocenter. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombing, and artist Junaida has created a painting inspired by the song.
This exhibition will feature a special screening of an animation of Masaharu Fukuyama's song "Kusunoki - Blown by the Wind of 500 Years," newly recorded 11 years after its release. In addition, the original painting by Junaida, "KUSUNOKI," on which the video was based, will be on display. Please enjoy the work, which is filled with the emotions and wishes of the two artists as they confront the "Kusunoki," a tree that has survived for ages.
