■ Movie Overview

Sumi, Atsuko, and Misao are nursing students who return to their hometown of Nagasaki because their school is closed due to air raids. At 11:02 on August 9, 1945, the atomic bomb is dropped on Nagasaki city, and their daily lives with their families and lovers are completely changed. In a city that has turned into a hellish scene, there are more lives to be lost than to be saved, but despite their inexperience, they try to fulfill their mission as nursing students and as people. What did they see, feel, and think in their hometown that has become a burnt wasteland? The screenplay is based on the memoir "In the Shadow of the Flash - Notes of Red Cross Nurses Providing Relief for Atomic Bomb Victims" compiled 35 years after the bombing by nurses from the Japanese Red Cross who provided relief for the victims of the atomic bomb.

1945 is the year we experienced the atomic bombing and the end of the war, 2024 is the year the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers Organizations won the Nobel Peace Prize and appealed to the world for nuclear abolition, and 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the war. Now that there are fewer people who can talk about their experiences of war and the atomic bombing, this is a story that we want to pass on to future generations.
