Yushi Matsuo

Born in Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture. She began to take an interest in singing when her parents took her to watch her aunt compete in a karaoke competition. On the way to a wedding in Osaka, which her relatives had chartered, she sang in front of others for the first time using the karaoke machine installed in the bus. This sparked her interest in participating in karaoke competitions, and after winning an award unexpectedly, she began to feel a desire to become a singer. She happened to see a poster for a karaoke competition judged by composer Hideo Mizumori. When she inquired, she was told that the application period had ended. However, upon learning that it would be held again the following year, she decided to try again. She entered the competition with the goal of being scouted by Mr. Mizumori, and successfully passed the preliminary round, advancing to the final competition where she could be judged directly by him. She came in 6th place. Despite this, Mr. Mizumori spoke to her, and she seized an opportunity. Afterwards, he told her, "I can't take you on as an apprentice until you graduate from high school, but come to Tokyo after you graduate," and she took her first step towards becoming a singer.
